Special education that suits your children's needs

PARENTS, no matter how much they are making financially, want nothing but the best for their children’s education as early as the kids are on their preschool years still.

It’s not such a complicated logic to want the best for the little ones, wanting them to be provided well with the proper and efficient ways of learning.

However, each child’s capacity for learning differs. One medium, which is very complementary with a kid’s learning capacities, may not work well for another. It is through this challenge that Maria Victoria Supan founded Proverbs Ville Christian School (PVCS), located at Km. 7, Central Park Road, Bangkal, Davao City.

The PVCS has special educational services and features that are most likely tailored-fit for the needs and the capacities of their students to avoid being left out or being stagnated in comparison to their classmates, who also have different learning capacities and needs from them.

Her family was originally from Manila and they had been homeschooling their children until they had to transfer in Davao City way back in 2004 when her husband Pastor Alvin Joseph Supan became the Senior Pastor of Victory Christian Fellowship Davao.

The PVCS offers classes for playschool children until Grade 12. Starting off with around 35 students during their opening in 2010, Supan said they are now catering to around 200 students.

Their school is not your typical children’s academe that follows the traditional form of education. Supan made it a point to make sure that the students become globally competitive without compromising their Christian values.

The PVCS’ special services were offered by few academic institutions in Mindanao.

Special educational services

Proverbs Ville Christian School offers regular classes for Playschool to Grade 12 students, which are recognized by the Department of Education.

The faculty and staff of the school are also licensed teachers, which the school makes sure to help with the better learning facility for the students.

They also offer multi-level classes intended for special children and children with learning difficulties and disabilities. Multi-level classes provide individual instruction for these children with the instructors focusing and making sure that the students will understand the lessons at hand. Aside from the multi-level classes, they also provide Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) Therapy Clinic to address affordable, comfortable, and better service needed by special children.

Hybrid Classes are for children who are considered gifted or those with exceptionally high intellectual quotient. The classes are made to enhance their talents and skills and to give them outlet to express, articulate, and innovate.

According to Supan, the purpose of creating classes tailor-fit for the students according to their learning needs and capacities is to properly address whatever learning issues that they have, which are less likely to be addressed in regular schools.

Proverbs Ville Christian School also offers Homeschool Program which is intended for families who would want to homeschool their children for better and more focused learning.

Special educational features

From homeschooling to regular classes, Supan recognized the big difference and the great amount of time that the kids are consuming after school especially with a number of homework that they are assigned to do.

Because of this, PVCS’ classes offers the no-assignment feature to give the children the time to rest, play, help in the house, and bond with the family members. Supan said she believed that those young children, who have not experienced playing and leisure during their earlier years are less likely to succeed in their college years.

It, being a Christian school with a mission of keeping and developing the Christian values of the children, they offer 30-minute daily devotion wherein the students read the Bible, memorize certain passages, make life reflections, and pray. Supan said this practice was embraced warmly by the families of their students despite the differences in religion.

Every Friday, the students look forward to special classes specializing in music (such as voice, violin, piano, guitar, and drum lessons), arts and crafts, and physical education including sports and dance lessons for swimming, volleyball, soccer, chess, and hiphop and contemporary dances among others.
