Teacher shot dead in Danao City, Cebu

A PUBLIC school teacher was shot dead by two unidentified motorcycle-riding men past 10 p.m. on Sunday, May 14, in Sitio Cogon, Barangay Guinacot, Danao City, Cebu.

The victim was identified as Jerry Durano Puno, 43, who worked as a teacher at Carmen National High School.

Investigation showed that Puno was shot in the face and other parts of his body by two unidentified assailants when he walked toward a toilet outside his house. The suspects, who wore masks, fled onboard a black motorcycle.

The victim was rushed to Cebu Provincial Hospital in the city but he did not reach the hospital alive.

Danao City Police Chief Gerard Ace Pelare said the victim was in their list of suspected drug pushers. (SunStar Cebu)
