30 schools in JVR chess championship

SOME 30 schools are expected to compete in the 6th JVR Inter-School Invitational Chess Team Championship on July 18 and 25 at the JVR Building, J.P. Laurel Ave. in Davao City.

The event will feature High School boys and girls and elementary boys and girls categories.

Each team will have two players in each division in the seven-round Swiss System format.

Among the schools that are expected to see action are last year’s top performing schools including the Davao Central College, Davao Christian High School, Davao Wisdom Academy and Jose Maria College.

The chief arbiter for the tournament is Ely Acas while the tournament manager is national arbiter Ronnie Tabudlong.

The chessfest is part of the 57th founding anniversary celebration of Emcor Inc.
