USPF Panthers start Cesafi comeback in Sibonga

THE returning University of Southern Philippines Foundation Panthers will make their first public appearance and will join five other Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) teams in the 2015 Mayor Lionel Bacaltos Cup Cesafi Pre-Season Basketball Tournament in Sibonga town on June 19.

USPF, which is now under the tutelage of coach Albert Alocillo, is the mystery team in this competition as most schools are unaware what kind of team the new Panthers will be.

The Panthers disbanded following another woeful season in 2013 but announced its comeback last March and quickly put up a team with Alocillo as its mentor.

USPF will be joined by the Southwestern University Cobras, University of San Carlos Warriors, University of the Visayas Green Lancers and the University of Cebu Webmasters.

The schools high school teams will also see action in the juniors division.

The tournament will follow a single-round robin elimination round format with the top two teams advancing to the finals.

The champion in the college division will get P50,000, while the runner-up gets P30,000. The third placer will earn P20,000.
