Premium wines at Swiss Deli

WINE tasting at Matina Swiss Deli is always a must-attend event even for non-wine drinkers like me.

It is a great venue to learn more about wines and meet new friends including regulars who are mostly foreigners and are passionate about wines.

Some 50 guests came to taste the newest premium wine brands at Matina Swiss Deli in a recent wine tasting.

The six wines showcased were not yet available in the market.

Milbrandt Reisling and SIP Moscato were the big hits especially for the ladies who attended the event.

Columbia Valley's Milbrandt Reisling, according to its taste note, is extremely well-balanced with aromas and flavors of ripe Elberta paeches, lush grapefruit, enticing lychee fruit and a touch of mineral that combine a subtle sweetness with a crisp, refreshing finish. It has alcohol volume of 12.5 percent.

SIP Moscato of Australia, for its part, "is a kind of wine that has made Moscato so popular". The sweet wine has mixed flavors of white sugar, honey, tangerines, lemon meringue pie and vanilla bean. "Its crispy acidity is bright and its alcohol is low."

Milbrandt Reisling costs P1,400 per bottle while SIP Moscato is P1,260 per bottle.

The red light colored Terra Noble Pinot Noir of Casablanca Valley, Chile is gentle with a nice acidity and full flavor; its intense and harmonic aromas of red fruits like cherry, cassis and the oak are perfectly well integrated. The fruity wine, which has an alcohol content of 13.5 percent, complements shellfish, salmon, grilled chicken and creamy cheeses. A bottle costs P812.

Guests also enjoyed the cold cuts, cheeses and ribs that went well with the wines. Small talks, great fellowship and of course, selfies and groupie shots capped the night.

Looking forward to next wine tasting.
