Megaworld is Philippines' best developer

MEGAWORLD made another history in this year’s Philippines Property Awards when it emerged as the country's "Best Developer" for the second straight year during the Gala night held in Makati City last week.

Citing that Megaworld projects are aesthetically pleasing, sustainable and environment friendly, the panel of judges said that "the company in the past year has excelled in producing some of the industry's best designs and commercial development, earning once again the distinction of being the year's Best Developer."

"Last year, when we received the award as the country’s best developer, we were very grateful and proud. Getting another ‘best developer’ award this year, we are more humbled. This inspires us to do more and do better in the years to come," said Kevin Tan, Senior Vice President and head of Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, in his acceptance speech.

Megaworld was also a big winner in eight other categories, namely, Best Universal Design Development for St. Moritz Private Estates, Best Office Development for Alliance Global Tower, Best Mixed Use Development for 8 Forbes Town Road, Best Residential Architectural Design for One Uptown Residence, Best Retail Architectural Design for Uptown Mall, Best Residential Landscape Architectural Design for The Florence and Best Retail Landscape Architectural Design for Uptown Mall.

The company also received the "Special Recognition in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)."

The Andrew Tan-led property giant also received 17 "Highly Commended" Awards, cementing the company’s position as the ‘most awarded company in the 2017 Philippines Property Awards.

These include: Best Luxury Condo Development (Metro Manila) for The Florence and St. Moritz Private Estates; Best High End Condo Development (Metro Manila) for 8 Forbes Town Road and One Eastwood Avenue; Best Condo Development (Cebu) for One Pacific Residence; Best BPO Office Development for Tower One Plaza Magellan; Best Retail Development for Uptown Mall and Venice Grand Canal; Best Residential Architectural Design for One Eastwood Avenue and One Pacific Residence; Best Residential Interior Design for St. Moritz Private Estates and Three Central; Best Retail Architectural Design for Venice Grand Canal Mall; Best Office Architectural Design for Alliance Global Tower; Best Residential Landscape Architectural Design for One Pacific Residence and One Uptown Residence; and Best Office Landscape Architectural Design for Alliance Global Tower.

"The blueprint for Megaworld’s success is not only apparent in its pioneering integrated urban township concept that’s been perfected for many years, but also in its dedication to nation building by introducing the world-class developments in provincial areas,” said Lindsay J. Orr, chairman of JLL Philippines and head of the 10-member judging panel.

Megaworld, together with other main category winners in the Philippines, are now advancing to the seventh annual Asia Property Awards grand finals in Singapore this November at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre, where they will compete with 15 other markets in the region and be crowned the "Best in Asia."

"Although Manila remains the heart of the real estate industry, quality developments can now be found everywhere in the country," said Terrry Blackburn, founder and managing director of the Property Guru Asia Property Awards, in his opening remarks.

"As well as residential development giving more and more Filipinos the chance to own their own home for the first time, economic growth continues to be supported by world class retail and office developments," he added.
