Cagayan de Oro’s mall avenue

C.M RECTO Avenue is located at Lapasan village, Cagayan de Oro City. It’s the biggest avenue in the city. It is also the gateway to show the progress of Cagayan de Oro due to its various commercial complexes and establishments located in its area. It connects the road leading to the cities of Iligan and Butuan.

The avenue was named after Claro M. Recto, A Filipino statesman, poet, lawyer, and politician. He was born at Quezon Province from an upper middle class family. Recto at his time was very outstanding, showing his potential even during high school, but also in his career aspects. His outstanding achievements were when he was elected as senator and was appointed as associate justice of the Supreme Court. He also ran as president at the 1957 presidential election. He was a very good leader at his time.

C.M Recto Avenue, to honour the man behind the name, has become the city main road of business and commerce. Also, the road that opens Cagayan De Oro to be the business hub of Northern Mindanao and known as the power house of mall’s in the City way back many years. Here are the shopping malls that are located at C.M Recto Avenue:

Gaisano City Mall – Opened in 1989 and known as the mall of the masses because of its affordable items. The simple design of the mall attracts every level people to be welcome. Gaisano’s in the city maintained its standing as the affordable shopping area and has several of branches within the City.

Ayala Centrio Mall – Opened in 2012 and one of the shopping complexes to introduce the all-in-one mall, hotel and condominium set up in the city. It is also one of the top dining destinations for the residents and tourists due to its various selections that are mostly located in just one destination, the Centrio Garden.

SM CDO Downtown Premier – Just opened last May 12, 2017. It’s the second SM Mall in the city and the most top destination for shopping addicts as of the moment due to its flagship name “premier” which provides unique shopping stores, entertainment, and dining experience. It’s also the biggest mall of Mindanao as of the moment.

Limketkai Center – It is known by many Kagay-anons as “Ketkai” and owned by a home-grown family. Opened in 1992 and it was the biggest shopping mall in the city and Mindanao for many years.The shopping complex built within the mixed-use 40-hectare property. The many first of Cagayan de Oro and Mindanao, it’s the first to bring McDonalds, Shopwise, Robinson Place and many more. The mall is undergoing several expansion activities up to this moment.

Actually, the good thing about the four malls above, it’s just a few meters away to each other and you can just walk to reach the malls. If you’re finding an extreme shopping trip, you can start your mall hopping at Gaisano Mall, Centrio, SM CDO Downtown Premier and end at Limketkai Center or vice versa. Thanks to the avenue for providing us a one-stop access with various selection of shopping experience without travelling too far.
