3 cops, civilian lauded for foiling robberies in Oro

THE Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) issued a commendation naming three policemen and a City Hall worker for the arrest of two robbery suspects in separate incidents during the flag raising rites on Monday, May 22.

Senior Superintendent Robert Roy Bahian led the awarding of Superintendent Dexter Paje, Police Officer 3 (PO3) Adolfo Nietes Jr, PO1 Ian Roderick Paug, and City Hall employee Noel Naybe.

The three law enforcers were responsible for the arrest of a certain Ranilo Madronero, who was onboard a jeepney and allegedly declared a hold-up while pointing a knife to one of the passengers last April 2 at Gaerlan-Tiano streets in the city.

A mobile phone worth some P54,000 was recovered from the suspect’s possession. Madronero is now facing robbery charges with bail set at P100,000.

Naybe, who works as supervisor of security civil unit of City Hall, chased and caught a certain Jay-ar Sieran who had just snatched a jeepney commuter’s necklace at Rizal-Gaerlan streets in the city.

A nine-inch knife was recovered from the suspect’s possession.

Cocpo spokesperson Chief Inspector Mardy Hortillosa II said the awarding was their way of recognizing the bravery of civilians and law enforcers alike in the fight against criminality.

“Ika-duha nani nga awarding kay ang una katong mga traffic enforcers ug barangay official nga nakadakop pud og mga daotang elemento,” Hortillosa said.

The Cocpo’s City Public Safety Company (CSPC) on Monday, May 22, searched the Maharlika Detention Cell inside the Cocpo headquarters.

Hortillosa said the search was part of the order of city director Senior Superintendent Robert Roy Bahian to ensure that no contraband will be smuggled inside the MDC.

The city director has ordered the CPSC to take charge in the regular conduct of search.

Hortillosa said the search yielded negative results.

The 40-square meter detention facility divided in two cells has 11 female and 26 male inmates at present.

“Manigurado ang CPSC nga sa ilang pagbantay sa detention cell limpyo kini ug walay illegal nga mga butang nga makasulod,” Hortillosa said.
