DepEd-Pampanga: No collection during enrolment

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Department of Education (DepEd)-Pampanga Division on Saturday, May 20, said that the “no collection during enrolment” policy must be strictly observed by all public schools in the province.

DepEd-Pampanga Division Superintendent Leonardo Zapanta, said the agency is keenly monitoring the activities of public schools.

“Strictly implemented po iyan sa Pampanga. Zero collection during enrolment sa lahat ng public schools dito sa province, both elementary and high school,” Zapanta assured.

He added that he already issued a memorandum ordering all public schools in the province to post signage of the policy on their respective gates for the information of the parents and students.

Based on DepEd Order 41, no fees shall be collected from school children in kindergarten up to Grade 4 anytime during the school year while Grade 5 pupils up to high school students should not pay any fees from June to July.

School authorities, however, may collect on a voluntary basis some identified activities such as Boy and Girls Scout membership of P50, Philippine National Red Cross of P35, anti-tuberculosis fund drive of P5, school publication fee of P60 for elementary and P90 for high school per learner starting August.

“But there will be no compulsory contributions o ‘yung sapilitan na mape-pressure ang mga magulang,” Zapanta said.

He said that the only expense that parents should cover are the personal school supplies and uniforms of their children.

He also reminded the parents to let the students attend the first few days of classes, which will start on June 5.

“Sana tanggalin na ‘yung notion na huwag papasukin ang mga estudyante kapag unang linggo kasi maglilinis lang. Kaya nga may Brigada Eskwela tayo para ahead of the school days, malinis at ready na ang mga classrooms,” he said.
