METRO Manila-based IPM-Construction and Development Corp. (IPM-CDC) is poised to get a renewal of its garbage collection contract with Bacolod City, being the lone bidder with the lowest, responsive and calculated bid.
The IPM-CDC is the city’s current contractor for garbage hauling and collection services.
The Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) headed by City Assessor Maphilindo Polvora and Technical Working Group (TWG) will submit their recommendation today for the awarding of the P52.5-million maintenance and operation of the sanitary landfill of the city.
Members of the TWG and BAC conducted the post-qualification in the projects sites of IPM-CDC in Quezon City Friday, May 19.
The IPM-CDC offered a bid of P52,420,281.06. The approved budget for the contract is P52.5-million for the seven-month – from June to December 2017 – maintenance and operation of the landfill in Barangay Felisa.
The TWG members inspected the Payatas landfill in Barangay Payatas, Quezon City, the largest ongoing contract of the IPM-CDC.
In 2000, the Payatas landslide was a garbage dump that killed 218 people and left thousands homeless.
The IPM-CDC was tasked to rehabilitate and manage the dumpsite in accordance with Republic Act 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act.
The TWG checked projects of the IPM-CDC in terms of their compliance, number years, and equipment needed for the projects.
The contract for the maintenance and operation of the landfill amounts to P7.4 million per month.
