FOUR individuals including a leader of a criminal group were arrested in separate police operations against prohibited drugs and illegal firearms in the Cordillera during the weekend.
In Abra, the leader of Villamor Group identified as Arthur Echave Villamor, 50, was arrested in his residence at Presentar village, Lagangilang on Friday morning, May 19.
Through a search a warrant, Villamor was nabbed after police confiscated an unlicensed caliber .38, revolver without serial number.
Based on Philippine National Police (PNP) records, the “Villamor Group” is involved in the series of proliferation of dangerous drugs in his barangay and nearby municipalities.
Three drug pushers were also nabbed by joint police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operatives in a drug bust at the parking area of Hoppei Spa Salon in Upper Padre Burgos, Baguio City.
Police identified the pushers as Grace Ubusan Sibog, 41, businesswoman, a resident of Andres Bonifacio Barangay; Donald Lee Fanglayan Quanzo, 33, businessman, a resident of Green Summerville Subdivision, Bakakeng Norte; and Albert Fanglayan Quanzo, 56, construction worker, and a resident of Purok 2, Pinsao Pilot Project.
The suspects were arrested after they sold suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu” to undercover agents.
Authorities seized five heat sealed plastic sachet containing suspected shabu, drug paraphernalia, P2, 500 cash money, one cellular phone and an SUV car.
Police Regional Office in Cordillera Regional Director Elmo Francis Sarona, meanwhile, commended the police units and PDEA for the arrest of the suspects.
Sarona also urged the public to support the police in the campaign against illegal drugs by providing relevant and timely information on the identity of drug personalities in their respective places and to report it to the nearest police station or to the PNP hotline numbers. (PR)
