Asean dengue day on June 15

THE Department of Health (DOH) in Davao Region is expected to organize several activities in observance of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Dengue Day Monday, June 15.

Yasmin Avila, public information officer of the DOH Davao Region, said the health office will be hosting the Asean Dengue Day at the Apo View Hotel in Davao City from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

At least 10 member countries of the Asean will participate in the annual Asean Dengue Day, hosted this year by the Philippines.

With about 1.3 billion people living in Southeast Asia at risk of getting the disease, the region will demonstrate its commitment in fighting dengue by raising awareness, promoting cooperation, and reinforcing prevention strategies.

Each country holds simultaneous activities to raise awareness on dengue and to mobilize resources for prevention and control involving not only the health sector, but also the private and public sector stakeholders.
