Bacolod City mayor: Secure Serenio family

THE Bacolod City mayor directed City Police Office officer-in-charge Jack Wanky on Thursday, May 25, to give police protection to the family of top drug suspect Ricky Serenio in Barangay Singcang-Airport, this city.

Serenio’s father Wilfredo was shot to death by unidentified men on motorcycle outside their house Monday night.

His death came more than a month after his son Wilmar, 31, was also killed by two unidentified assailants.

Serenio is the alleged bagman of Berya drug group.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia said Wanky informed him that they have already a lead on the identity of the suspects.

“It was clear who are the suspects, but we cannot release further information while the investigation is still ongoing,” the mayor said.

He added that the police should give protection to the family of Serenio because under the justice system, they have the presumption of innocence.

“They should be given the proper care and protection of our policemen because we cannot allow an additional victim here. It is already alarming, what happened to their family,” Leonardia said.

Wanky informed the mayor that two policemen were already assigned to the family of Serenio.
