Man shot dead in Negros Oriental

A 55-YEAR-OLD man was shot to death by an unidentified assailant at Barangay Napacao, Siaton, Negros Oriental Wednesday afternoon, May 24.

Police identified the fatality as George Adalim of the same barangay.

Investigation showed the victim was walking around 5:45 p.m. when a man on a motorcycle fired at him.

The victim was rushed to Siaton Hospital where he was declared dead.

Siaton Municipal Police Station is still conducting further investigation to identify and arrest the suspect.


Meanwhile, a man was injured after he was stabbed by the former lover of his live-in partner at Guihulngan, Negros Occidental Friday afternoon, May 26.

Police identified the victim as Jerry Boy Cañete, 20, of Pagadian City.

Senior Police Officer 2 Necasio Tabilon, investigator of Guihulngan City Police Station, said the victim was sleeping on a stage at the Freedom Park at about 12:45 p.m. with his live-in partner Rose Ocampo when Roland Saraga attacked him.

The victim sustained a wound in his chest while his live-in partner was unhurt.

Jealousy may have caused Saraga to commit such act, police said.

Cañete was rushed to Gov. William Billy Villegas Memorial Hospital while the suspect fled.

Police recovered from scene of the crime a bladed weapon.

Tabilon said they are still conducting a follow-up operation to arrest the suspect. (MAP)
