'Pillar' of social work in Pampanga dies at 70

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Members of cause-oriented and social work organizations in Pampanga now mourn the death of Melita Shilton who is considered among the old pillars of social work in Pampanga.

Shilton died last May 26 after a long battle against a series of health problems. She was 70.

Shilton has made a mark in the Pampanga as a dedicated leader and forerunner of charitable and social work to many less fortunate Kapampangans.

She served at the Rotary Club of Mabalacat and Quota International Of Pampanga in different capacities.

Shiltons contribution were expressed by those whose lives she had touched with their messages of condolences through her Facebook page.

Shilton is a mentor to many of the leaders of cause-oriented groups in Pampanga.

She was also a volunteer for the Kapampangan Development Foundation's social missions and programs.
