Thousands of students in San Simon receive school bags

SAN SIMON -- With the forthcoming opening of classes, more than a thousand public school students from two villages here received school bags and school supplies from Real Steel Corporation over the weekend.

The activity is part of the corporate social responsibility (CSR) program of the smelting plant which aims to reach out to their neighbor communities.

Through the program dubbed as "Balik Eskwela," 650 students of Sta. Monica Elementary School and 393 students of San Isidro Elementary School received school bags with notebooks, pad papers and pens inside.

Engineer Ryan Cambe, a representative of the company, said that all grades one to six students enrolled this school year on the said public schools received the said back-to-school gift.

“Ang gusto ng boss namin ay makapagbigay ng tulong sa mga taga-San Simon, lalong lalo na dito sa San Isidro na host barangay namin, bilang pasasalamat sa pagtanggap nila sa Real Steel na parang kababayan din nila,” he said.

Cambe said that the gift-giving activity is just one of the many programs that the smelting plant has conducted for the benefit of the Simonians.

Barangay San Isidro Captain Randie Flores expressed gratitude to the Real Steel Corporation management for continuously helping their village.

He stressed that the school supplies will help lessen the parents' expenses this coming opening of classes as well as boost the moral and encourage students to go to school.

“Ang mga bata dito kung minsan papasok, nakaipit lang iyong papel sa kilikili. Syempre minsan yung bata nahihiya din. Kaya malaking bagay talaga ito samin,” he said.

Flores said that "any aid concerning education will always be extra significant as it also affects many sectors of the society."
