Dyson arrives in Davao

DYSON Ltd., a British company that designs and produces vacuum cleaners, bladeless fans, and hair dryers, was launched in Davao City for the first time last Friday, May 26 at Chimes Boutiques, Sales Street.

A company originally founded to make cleaning with vacuum cleaners a lot easier and more convenient, Dyson is already spread in 65 countries all over the world, starting from a one-man idea to a huge company employing around a thousand engineers now. In the Philippines, Dyson products are exclusively distributed by White Planet, Inc.

“This gives us the opportunity for all Dabawenyos to experience the Dyson technology and all great products that come with it. For now, our partners are only Chimes Boutiques in Davao. We have three core products. First one is the vacuum cleaners, second one is the fans and purifiers, and the third one is the hairdryers,” said White Planet, Inc. Retail Operations Director Helton Tan.

Their vacuum cleaners come in different kinds: the cord-free machines, handheld machines, and cylinder machines, all assuring removal of allergens and fine dusts up to 0.3 microns. The company also boasts of their vacuum cleaners to be less noisy compared to the other cleaners in the market.

For their fans, the company presents their Dyson Pure Cool Link purifier fans, which promises to remove 99.95 percent of harmful, minute particles. As modern as the fans are, these can be controlled and monitored via a smartphone app. It automatically monitors, reacts, and purifies then reports the performance to the Dyson Link app. The app is also helpful for people who wouldn’t be at home for a few days but would want to still purify the air in their homes. A schedule and timer on when the appliance can turn on and off is also possible thru the app.

The Dyson Supersonic, a modern and a lighter version of a conventional hairdryer, was also one of the Dyson products launched last Friday. With the capacity for the power and the heat to be controlled, it boasts of its ability to prevent extreme heat damage. Because the motor, which is located in the head of a traditional hairdryer, was transferred in the Dyson Supersonic handle, the latter is much lighter to maneuver.

The hairdryer had been noted to be used by Hollywood celebrities and performers like Lady Gaga and Christina Aguilera. In the Philippines, Jing Monis, the hairstylist of local celebrities, was also present during the event. He shared how he personally uses the product for his clients because of its quality.

In the future, Tan said they might also consider partnering with hotels and salons in Davao City for better and more efficient services.

“In Manila, our institutional department is already partners with a lot of different hotels and resorts and salons. A lot of our hotel partners have bought vacuum cleaners for their housekeeping, even Cathay Pacific has bought our bladeless fans and they put it in their lounge in the airport. We actually have a lot of corporate partner clients already,” Tan said adding he hopes, in the future, Dyson becomes a household name in Davao.
