Farmer shot dead in Kalinga; Benguet’s second most wanted nabbed

A 44-YEAR-OLD was shot dead in Tabuk City, Kalinga while Atok, Benguet’s top two most wanted person facing rape charges was arrested by combined police operatives and intelligence agents during the weekend.

Police identified the fatality as Andrew Tonod Goyagoy, 44 years old, married, farmer and a resident of Bayao, Dugpa, Pinukpuk, Kalinga, who was shot to death by four still unidentified gunmen while he was about to board his motorcycle.

The victim, according to a report was called by his relatives and grandson to proceed to Bulanao when gunshots were fired from behind that caused him to sustain two fatal gunshot wounds on the left side of his body.

Goyagoy was immediately rushed by his relatives to the Kalinga Provincial Hospital for medical treatment but failed to reachx the hospital alive, the attending physicians said.

Responding police operatives and elements of the Scene of the Crime Operation team recovered several spent shells and deformed slugs of calibre .45 pistol, which was used by the suspects in the perpetration of the crime.

In Atok, authorities arrested Jojo Mayomis Pias , aka Joyjoy, 27, single, a native and a resident of KM 22, Cagui-Ing, Caliking, Atok, Benguet.

He was arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by retired Judge Francis Buliyat of the Regional Trial Court Branch 9 in La Trinidad for rape with no bail recommended for his temporary liberty. (Roderick Osis)
