54-year-old, cohort caught in drug bust

A 54-YEAR-OLD woman and her cohort were caught in a drug bust by the operatives of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Central Visayas.

The suspects, Cecilia Escoton and Agustin Alonzo, 49, yielded 14 small sachets of white crystals believed to be shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) in Sindulan, Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City, at 11:25 p.m. Monday, May 29.

The contraband weighed 15.33 grams with an estimated market value of P51,300.

At 7:45 p.m., of the same night, Karen Mae Baclayon, 18, was nabbed in Bato Carbon, Barangay Ermita, Cebu City. Seized from her were 14.4 grams of suspected shabu worth P40,000.

The suspects will be charged with violation of Section 5 (selling of dangerous drugs) in relation to Section 26 b (conspiracy to sell drugs) and 11 (possession of dangerous drugs) of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
