Provincial Board approves transfer of P12.2M for DOH medical assistance

THE Negros Occidental Provincial Board authorized Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. in the session Wednesday, May 31, to sign a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Department of Health-Western Visayas for the implementation of the 2017 Medical Assistance Program.

Marañon requested for authority to transfer government funds amounting to P12.276 million for the use of the following public hospitals:

Vicente Gustilo District Hospital, P841,500; Cadiz District Hospital, P297,000; Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital, P5,989,500; Don Salvador Benedicto Memorial Hospital, P495,000; Ignacio L. Arroyo Sr. Memorial District Hospital, P2,673,000; Lorenzo D. Zayco District Hospital, P495,000, and Gov. Valeriano M. Gatuslao Memorial Hospital, P1,485,000.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Board also approved the 2017 annual general fund budget of Victorias City amounting to P506 million.

The budget was passed through Appropriation Ordinance No. 3, Series of 2016.

Also approved was the granting of authority to Marañon Jr. to sign a MOA with the National Food Authority (NFA) for the province to purchase rice through loans to be used for relief operations.

Whenever a state of calamity is declared, the province can get rice supply from NFA in preparation of eventualities/emergencies that may occur at any given time.
