FIVE drug suspects were caught in separate drug busts on Wednesday, May 31, in Cebu and Carcar City.
A joint team of Carcar City Drug Enforcement Unit and San Fernando Municipal Drug Enforcement Unit operatives arrested three suspected drug pushers around 1:55 a.m. in Carcar City.
The suspects were identified as Niño Abella Lapas, 21; his common-law wife Antonette Gee Regis Babao, 22; and a 17-year-old boy.
The other target of the operations, Cresencio Caday Jr. escaped arrest.
Seized from the suspects were 10 packs of white crystals believed to be methamphetamine hydrochloride or "shabu" and drug paraphernalia.
In a separate drug bust on the same day, agents of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Visayas caught Ricardo Lastima, the brother of a village official who also works as a radio reporter, in Carcar City.
Lastima's common-law wife Kimberly Ybañez was also arrested.
Seized from them were 215 grams of shabu worth P731,000. (SunStar Cebu)
