Man found dead in vacant lot in Dumaguete City

POLICE are investigating the death of a man whose body was found early Wednesday, May 31, at a vacant lot in Bajumpandan village, Dumaguete City in Negros Oriental.

An initial police report identified the dead man as Jake Anthony Sayson, 26, married, and a resident of San Miguel village in nearby Bacong town.

A transparent plastic sachet containing suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or "shabu" was found near the body.

Senior Inspector Romel Luga, the police chief of Bacong, said Sayson was not in their roster of drug surrenderers under "Oplan Tokhang."

The dead man was found around 6:05 a.m. in front of the racetrack along the diversion road in Bajumpandan village.

Early investigation showed that residents in the area heard around five gunshot wounds sometime 2:47 a.m. Wednesday.

The dead man reportedly has a pending case for violation of Republic Act 9262 or The Violence Against Women and Children Act, Luga added. (PNA)
