Murder suspect dies in Toledo shootout

A 37-YEAR-OLD murder suspect died in a shootout with police in Sitio Maraas, Barangay Matab-ang, Toledo City, at 10:20 a.m. Thursday, June 1.

Police identified the fatality as Jessie Recla, who succumbed to a single gunshot in the head.

Recla wounded Police Officer 3 John Ricafort, a Special Weapons and Tactics operative, in the left foot.

Before the gunfight, the police received a report about Recla brandishing his Ingram automatic pistol.

City Police Chief Samuel Mina assembled a team to arrest Recla, who has a pending warrant of arrest issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 59 Judge Hermes Montero.

Recla refused to surrender. He reportedly opened fire at the operatives, hitting Ricafort.
