CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga -- An alleged notorious drug pusher was killed during an exchange of firefight with policemen at Lourdes Northwest, Angeles City, Wednesday, May 31.
Senior Superintendent Patrick Villacorte, Angeles City police acting city director, identified the fatality as Randy Maclang, Sr., alias Doy, 34, a resident of Arellano Street, Barangay Lourdes Northwest.
Villacorte said that the Drug Enforcement Unit and Intelligence Branch team led by Superintendent Nestor Chavez conducted the drug bust against Maclang in Barangay Pampang.
When the suspect sensed that he was dealing with a police officer, he ran away and then threw a hand grenade but did not explode.
Policemen chased the suspect, but they were fired upon which prompted them to retaliate, hitting Maclang. The suspect was taken to the Ospital Ning Angeles but expired during medical treatment.
Recovered from the suspect were a caliber .38 revolver loaded with six bullets, a dark blue sling bag containing 9 small heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu” and cash amounting to P16,020. (Ric Sapnu)
