Murder suspect killed in shootout with cops

A 37-YEAR-OLD murder suspect died in a shootout with the police in Sitio Maraas, Barangay Matab-ang, Toledo City last Thursday morning.

Police identified the fatality as Jessie Recla, who succumbed to a single gunshot in the head.

Recla wounded Special Weapons and Tactics operative PO3 John Ricafort in the left foot. The officer was declared out of danger.

Before the gunfight, the police station received a report about Recla brandishing his Ingram automatic pistol.

Supt. Samuel Mina, city police chief, assembled a team to arrest Recla, who had a pending warrant of arrest issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 59 Judge Hermes Montero.

Recla refused to surrender to the police. He reportedly opened fire at the police, hitting Ricafort. One of the operatives shot Recla.

Operatives recovered Recla’s firearm, a magazine, 14 bullets, and five empty shells.
