Man arrested for transporting coco lumber

THE Bantayan Police Station intercepted an illegal transportation of coconut lumber at the public market in Barangay Suba last Friday evening.

Acting on a tip from a concerned citizen, police arrested Alvin Legaspi, 36, who hails from Kalubian, Leyte.

He was caught loading 1,020 boards of coco lumber on to his pump boat. Legaspi failed to present documents that he owned the cargo.

He is now in custody of the Bantayan police and will face charges for the violation of RA 8048, or the Coconut Preservation Act of 1995.
