Cakes and pasta at Real Confections

I have a handful of places that I regularly go to or recommend for desserts. Recently, this list has grown with my discovery of Real Confections Cakes and Pastries, which is located along Mabini St., fronting Stockbridge International School, Davao City.

I have already visited the place a few times with some friends and so far, I am very much happy with our recent visits here.

The place

The store has two floors. The first floor is where you find their cakes and pastries on display and a small dining area. The second floor features a cozy dining area, which I was not able to check out, but based on their photos, I think it looks cozy up there.

I also liked that they were playing classical music when we visited here instead of the regular pop and indie songs we usually hear at coffee shops.

The food

Real Confections offers pasta, desserts, and breads. They also serve ice cream shakes and hot and bottled drinks. The price of their pasta is at P160 to P170 while their desserts are around P75 to P190. Their breads are at P45 per piece. Their hot and bottled drinks are from P20 to P110 while the ice cream shakes are at P135 to P145.

For our visits here, we ordered the Bolognese Pasta (P170) and Chicken Adobo Pasta (P170). For desserts, we had the Matcha Oreo Cheesecake (P125), Ube Macapuno Cheesecake (P125), and Chocolate Caramel Cake (P100).

The Bolognese Pasta was delicious.

The Chicken Adobo Pasta was also pretty good. The chicken was tender. I also would have liked it more if the sauce was much thicker because it was too watery when served to us but it was still flavorful.

Just a heads up, the pasta dishes are already pre-cooked and are microwaved at the store.

I enjoyed the Matcha Oreo Cheesecake - it was great. Unlike some matcha cheesecakes I have eaten, I can really taste the matcha here. I liked the cookie crumbs on top as it added texture to the cheesecake.

I think the Ube Macapuno Cheesecake was phenomenal. One of the best desserts I’ve had to date. This definitely made it in my favorite desserts list.

The Chocolate Caramel Cake was also good but was not as memorable as the other two.

The service

The service I experienced was pretty good. The staff were really nice and accommodating. Food was also served within minutes.

Bottom line

Overall, I enjoyed the visits here. The pasta and desserts we had were generally good. The service we experienced was also good. The place is also nice.

I would definitely come back here to try more of their desserts. I also recommend coming here if you are looking for a place to have desserts.
