‘Kasambahays should get P3T’

THE Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) 7 reminded employers of the P3,000 monthly pay of the kasambahay employed in cities and first-class municipalities.

Domestic workers in other municipalities must receive P2,500 a month.

Dole 7 Director Elias Cayanong said all domestic workers should be given the mandated wage to improve the quality of their life.

He said he received complaints that some employers are not giving the correct wages to their kasambahay.

Domestic workers include house helpers, family drivers and gardeners.

The monthly pay of the kasambahay in the cities of Cebu, Mandaue, Talisay, Lapu-Lapu, Naga, Toledo, Danao and Bogo is P3,000.

The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) 7 based its order on Republic Act 6727 or the Wage Regionalization Act of 1989, which mandates the RTWPBs to fix the minimum wages in their jurisdiction.
