THE 11th Regional Community Defense Group, Army Reserve Command-Mintal in Davao City requested the City Council to ask President Rodrigo Duterte to allocate at least 20 hectares of land in the University of the Philippines (UP)-Mindanao.
The Army reservists aim to use it for military reservation and call the land Camp Gov. Vicente Duterte. The requested area is part of the 204 hectares of land granted to UP-Mindanao.
The office of the vice mayor through Administrative Assistant IV Jeanette Tinoy has made the endorsement letter and addressed it to Davao City Councilor Bernard Al-ag last May 15, 2017.
Group Commander of the 11th Regional Community Defense Group, Army Reserve Command Col Lyndon Paniza, in a letter dated May 7, endorsed to Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte the Resolution No. 25 Series of 2017 by Barangay Mintal, Tugbok District, which contains the request.
The letter reads that “the said military reservation is necessary to facilitate the training of our incoming Reserved Officer Training Corps (ROTC) cadets not only in Davao City but also in the region especially when ROTC will become compulsory.”
The item was referred to the committee on city-owned real properties chaired by Councilor Bonifacio Militar.
