Azkals eye back-to-back win in 2018 World Cup qualifier

AFTER its 2-1 victory over Bahrain last Thursday at the Philippine Sports Stadium in Bulacan, the Azkals are looking forward to duplicate its win Tuesday night (10 p.m., Manila time) in the 2018 World Cup Qualifier against Yemen at the Qatar Sports Stadium.

The face-off with the Yemenis was transferred to Qatar due to security concerns in the former’s territory.

In their last week’s game, coach Thomas Dooley and his wards outplayed the tough Bahraini side behind Misagh Bahadoran and Javier Patiño’s goals.

The Azkals, however, will miss the services of Fil-German midfielder Stephan Shrock who suffered a knee injury in their game against Bahrain.

Suiting up for Azkals tonight are keepers Neil Etheridge, Tomas Trigo and Patrick Deyto; midfielders Kevin Ingreso, Iain Ramsay, Martin Steuble, Patrick Reichelt, Manuel Ott, Kenshiro Daniels and Bahadoran; defenders Stephan Palla, Dennis Villanueva, Daisuke Sato, Simone Rota, Jerry Ruben Lucena, Juan Guirado, Rob Gier, and Amani Aguinaldo; and forwards Patiño, Phil Younghusband, and Mark Hartmann.

The Philippines is in Group H with Democratic Republic of Korea, Uzbekistan, Bahrain and Yemen.(HGD)
