SEAG gold medalist visits Capitol

SOUTHEAST Asian Games 2015 gold medalist Ian Clark Bautista of Binalbagan, Negros Occidental Monday paid a courtesy call on Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. at the Provincial Capitol.

The 26-year-old Bautista ruled host-bet Mohamed Hanurdeen Hamid, 2-1, in the championship match in the men’s flyweight.

The Negrense champion dominated Malaysian Muhammad Azuwan Mohd Nor in the preliminaries, 3-0 and beat Thailand’s Chatchai Butdee in the quarterfinals, 2-1.

Bautista knocked Thongbang Seuaphom of the Lao People's Democratic Republic with 1:13 tick of Round 2 in the semifinal.

Junel Cantancio of Bago City also pocketed a gold in the men’s lightweight while Bagonhon Rogen Ladon and Bacolod’s Rizy Pasuit settled for silver and bronze, respectively.

Other gold medal winners are Mario Fernandez of Cagayan de Oro, Eumir Felix Marcial of Zamboanga del Norte, and Josie Gabuco of Palawan.

Irish Magno of Iloilo and Nesthey Petecio of Davao del Sur finished silver as Wilfredo Lopez ended with bronze medal.HGD
