Zamboanga City mayor assumes engineer's office post

ZAMBOANGA City Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar assumed the post of the City Engineer’s Office effective June 1 in light of the approaching retirement of City Engineer Luis Despalo on June 21.

Salazar’s assumption is pursuant to Administrative order 24 which also designates Engineer Christopher Navarro, as special assistant to the city mayor and officer-in-charge (OIC) of the Office of the Building Official.

Navarro is currently the OIC of the Planning and Programming Division of the City Engineer’s Office.

With this designation, Navarro has the authority to sign together with the city mayor for and in behalf of the city engineer, in addition to his current duties and responsibilities.

City Engineer Despalo will be detailed to the Office of the City Mayor as adviser on infrastructure and engineering projects until his retirement.

Former City Councilor Eddie Saavedra, meanwhile, was recently appointed as supervising transportation officer at the Integrated Bus Terminal.

Tasked to oversee and manage the operations of the IBT, Saavedra took oath before Salazar on Monday, June 5. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
