Cepalco warns of power outage starting June 9

The Cagayan Electric Power and Light Company, Inc. (Cepalco) is set to implement a power outage, which could last up to 12 hours in some parts of the city and Misamis Oriental.

In its website, Cepalco announced that on Friday, June 9, power will be out in all establishments along Capitol Road (Barangay 27) including Philippine Red Cross Bldg., Provincial Health Office, Portion of Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC), Integrated Bar of the Phils. Bldg. and Provincial Capitol.

The power interruption occurs from 12 a.m. to 8 a.m. to facilitate relocation of primary pole and transformer within the Red Cross compound.

On the same day, residents in Upper Puerto, Maitum from Higa-onon Supreme Council to Alae, including the Chua Hatchery, Pro Natural Milling, Socor Batching Plant and Fatima Village will also experience a power interruption from 7 a.m. to 12 noon.

Cepalco will facilitate line conductor stringing of Tagoloan-Tablon 69KV at Alae, hence power curtailment.

A 12-hour power interruption will take effect on Sunday but will only affect the Nestle Philippines Inc.

On Sunday, a one hour and 30 minutes power interruption will affect Minergy-UKC to Suy Sing Warehouse-Umalag, including barangays Tablon down towards Baloy to Barangay Cugman and Barangay Gusa at Overpass, Malasag, FS Catanico and Mitimco.

A 30-minute power outage will also take effect in Barangay Gusa, Galaxy including Harbor Lights Hotel area to Barangay Lapasan up to corner Agora-Shell including Puregold and portion of corner Pimente, Agora Market area, Sto. Nino, Little Cebu and Tabaco up to Solid Shipping Line, Upper Gusa and Indahag including Alegria Hills Office.

The same power interruption schedule will be experienced by residents in Camaman-an Fedeers 1, 2, and 3 on Sunday, June 11.

Parts of Natumulan, Tagoloan town will also be affected by power outage from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. in all of Kalyeng Way Nagmahal St., Natumulan Proper, Tagoloan, Church of Christ of the Latter Day Saints, CDO Construction Corp., VM Paras, G and P Builders and Kimwa.

This, as Cepalco will be at work to facilitate continuing line conductor stringing and final line sagging of Kirahon-Tagoloan 69KV Line 2 at Natumulan proper.

Power outage was already experienced on June 2 and June 7.

The electric utility was summoned earlier by the City Council for skyrocketing rates, though Cepalco executives maintained they have no control over the rates as they rely only with the allocation given by Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management's.

The allocation was low, Cepalco said, thus causing an increase of rates particularly in the month of May.
