Power firm collector lost P100,000 to gunmen

AN ELECTRIC firm employee was shot and wounded in a P100,000 robbery in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, the police reported Thursday.

The police reported that the incident occurred around 9 a.m., Wednesday, in the village of Tenan, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.

The police identified the victim as Edgar Gonzalez, Sr., 54, a meter reader and collector of the Zamboanga del Sur Electric Cooperative II (Zamsureco II).

Investigation showed that Gonzalez was driving motorcycle on the way to the Zamsureco II to remit his collection when shot by unidentified riding-in-tandem gunmen, who followed the victim.

The police said the suspects grabbed the sling bag of Gonzalez that contained P100,000 and fled.

The victim was rushed to a hospital in Zamboanga City while investigation continues in a bid to identify the suspects behind the incident. (SunStar Philippines)
