Profiling of 150 evacuees finished

SOME 150 evacuees from Marawi City had their profiles taken by the Cebu City Government, a week after arriving here.

Malo Manonggiring, National Commission on Muslim Filipinos Central Visayas director, said that they finished the profiling last Thursday.

“Our profiling will continue in the coming days. This is for the purpose of identifying what help the government can extend to the refugees, particularly in terms of their livelihood,” Manonggiring told reporters yesterday.

The number of evacuees, he said, is expected to increase in the coming days as more people flee from Marawi.

The 150 evacuees arrived in Cebu City on board a ship from Iligan City last week.

Manonggiring said the first batch of evacuees are now staying in the cities of Cebu, Talisay, Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu.

He assured the Cebuanos that the arrival of evacuees will not spark the same armed clash in Marawi.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development 7 is coordinating with its counterparts in Region 10 and the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao in the profiling of the refugees before they are allowed to leave for Cebu.
