Woman rescued after being held hostage in Barili

THREE unidentified men barged inside a two-storey house in Barili, southern Cebu, and held a woman hostage on Sunday afternoon, June 11.

In a DYAB radio report, the victim obtained wounds in different parts of her body, but the police was able rescue her and rushed the victim to the town's public hospital.

Police Officer 3 (PO3) Gilbert Encabo said the culprits escaped by exiting through the back door of the house.

Operatives of the alert team and Special Weapons and Tactics pursued the men.

The victim is a helper employed by a certain Bernardino Dandan, owner of the house. Dandan, an overseas worker, was in Manila when the incident happened.

PO1 Marluz Cuasin of Barili Police Station said they received the alarm at 3:35 p.m.

She said the men sported long hair and were armed with knives.
