Poultry production in Davao Region down by 0.72% in 2016

POULTRY production in Davao Region in 2016 decreased by 0.72 percent to 99,843 metric tons (MT) from 100,563 MT in 2015 according to the data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

As of 2016, there was a total of 72,005 MT of chicken produced for the entire region.

Out of this number, about 42,197 MT was produced in Davao City, 13,754 MT in Davao del Sur, and 7,401 MT from Davao del Norte while Compostela Valley and Davao Oriental were able to produce 4,378 MT and 4,275 MT, respectively.

The total chicken production in 2016 had a slight decrease of 2.5 percent as compared to the 73,582 MT produced by the region in 2015.

For chicken eggs produced, there was a noted increase of 2.73 percent to 25,495 MT of chicken eggs produced from the region in 2016 from the 24,818 MT in 2015.

Most of the chicken eggs produced in 2016 were from Davao City with 17,728 MT recorded, followed by Davao del Sur at 3,077 MT, Davao Oriental with 2,020 MT, Davao del Norte with 1,891 MT, and Compostela Valley with 779 MT of chicken egg production for last year.

Ducks produced in the region for 2016 also increased by a measly 36 MT to 1,151 MT in 2016 from 1,115 MT in 2015. Most of these ducks were produced in Davao del Norte (550 MT), Davao del Sur (211 MT), Davao Oriental was able to produce 171 MT, Davao City with 162 MT, and Compostela Valley with 57 MT ducks produced for 2016.

Most of the duck eggs produced in the region came from Davao del Norte with a recorded 714 MT for 2016. Compostela Valley and Davao del Sur produced 159 MT and 174 MT of duck eggs, respectively while Davao Oriental and Davao City produced 50 MT and 95 MT, respectively.

Duck eggs production increased by 13.74 percent to 1,192 MT in 2016 compared to the 1,048 MT produced in 2015.
