Priest launches book on homilies

DRIVEN by his passion to reach out and understand the millennials, Fr. Harold Parilla posted his homilies on Facebook since most young people are now using this social media networking site.

Michael Cañares, owner of Creannovate Publishing based in Tagbilaran, Bohol, became one of those who followed Parilla’s homilies on FB, which gave birth to the book “Hashtags for Seekers.”

Last year, Cañares offered Parilla to be the exclusive publisher should the priest decide to have his homilies published.

From more than 100 homilies, the team decided to publish 49 meaningful homilies with themes.

The book comes with a foreword from Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio G. Cardinal Tagle, who was Parilla’s professor when he studied in Ateneo de Manila.

During the book launch in Tagbilaran City last May 28, Parilla said that he wanted to show a different and appealing side of a homily for the youth.

Parilla is a Bol-anon priest from the town of Clarin, who is currently serving as formator and lecturer at St. John Vianney Theological Seminary in Cagayan de Oro City.

“Hashtags for Seekers” is the first publication of the Creannovate Publishing. It comes in two version, full color and greyscale, which are sold at the entrance door of the St. Joseph Cathedral in Tagbilaran.
