Rama offers flowers

SAYING he wants to instill the value of patriotism and nationalism in his supporters, former Cebu City mayor Michael Rama yesterday led a flower offering at the Veterans Marker at the Plaza Independencia to celebrate the country’s 119th Independence Day.

Prior to the activity, hundreds of supporters of Barug Team Rama sponsored a mass at the Metropolitan Cathedral to celebrate the day and to ask for “guidance” on the recounting of the 168 protested ballots filed by Rama against Mayor Tomas Osmeña.

After the mass, the group walked to the Plaza for the flower offering. Rama was joined by Councilor Pastor Alcover Jr. and some of his allies, including suspended Ermita Barangay Captain Felicisimo Rupinta.

As to the recounting of the ballots at the Commission on Elections central office in Manila, which is scheduled today, Rama said his party will welcome whatever the result may be.

“Every move that will bring about what we’d hope to happen will always be positive. But we are not in control of what’s going to happen. Whether it will prove what we’ve been speculating or not, thy will be done,” he said.
