FelcrisCentrale marks Independence Day

A FLAG raising ceremony was held to mark the 117th anniversary of the proclamation of Philippine Independence at Felcris Centrale last Friday morning, June 12. And as the Philippine flag was hoisted, guests, shoppers and FelcrisCentrale employees joined the singing of “Lupang Hinirang” headed by Mr. Francis Orias.

From traditional to modernize and symbolic, Filipiniana fashion (and its variations) reigned supreme at the Al Fresco area where the event took place, women wore slim-cut terno and gown that accentuated their svelte figure while men looked ever Filipino gentlemen in their classic Barong Tagalong.

Ms. April Janine Uyan& Mr. Keith Corrales hosted the short program, dashing and lovely in their chosen Filipiniana gown and Barong.

The program was marked by the reading of the Independence Day Messages: Assistant Mall Manager Engr. Jesse Calañas; Ms. Rebecca De La Cruz read the message of DSWD 11 Regional Director Priscilla Razon. The talented Newbies Theatrical Society performed an interpretative dance incorporating the raising of the first flag during Independence Day.

The highlight of the event was the formal turn-over of Felcris Centrale to DSWD, new slippers for Pantawid Pamilya children beneficiaries, Felcris Centrale brought new rubber slippers to schoolchildren who make do with tattered ones, or do not wear any at all. These slippers were put on display at the Mall to form a Philippine flag that brings more color to the event.

“Sa taong ito, nais naming ibahagi ang tagumpay sa mga kabataan. Amin pong inihahandog ang mga mumunting tsinelas na ito sa mga kabataang lubos na nangangailangan sa tulong ng DSWD. Naisip naming sa ganitong maliit nahalagang suporta, maari naming ibahagi ang aming tulong para sa mga taong nangangailangan,” Assistant Mall Manager Engineer Jesse Calañas said.

Ms. Rebecca dela Cruz thanked Felcris Centrale and its tireless effort to create creative ways to help the children in need. She cited the need of new slippers for students and less-fortunate children, who go to school every day having to use only twines or pieces of wire to tie the slipper together and keep wearing it even if there are huge holes at the soles.

She added that the DSWD program Pantawid Pamilya has its share of ups and downs, of losses and successes, yet at the end the smiles on each of the faces of the beneficiaries are proof that it is all worth it because there are a lot of people who continuously help them in their drive for better world for most children.

Immediately afterwards, Felcris Centrale thanked guests for attending, followed by the traditional breakfast salo-salo as Filipinos celebrated Philippine Independence Day.
