La Trinidad to celebrate 67th foundation

La Trinidad is set to celebrate its 67th founding anniversary on Friday, June 16, which highlights the presentation of the Golden Kayabang Awards and the Outstanding Bantay Basura Advocates.

The award is given annually honoring La Trinidad’s outstanding citizens. Awardees are nominated by the 16 baranggays of the town and validated by the award’s committee.

The Golden Kayabang symbolizes the fruits of the labor of the awardees contained in the fruit basket locally called “kayabang.”

There will also be series of activities, which kick off on the same day, at the municipal gym.

With the theme “La Trinidad: Where Unity and Friendship Find Home” a cultural show will be one of the highlight of the festivity with the different barangays and Wangal School of Living Traditions showcasing the town’s tradition.

Flower booths will also adorn the parking lot at Kilometer 5 in a bid to strengthen the town’s cut flower industry.

Kabayan partylist representative is set to grace the town’s founding anniversary.

La Trinidad was declared a regular municipality by virtue of RA #531 and was tagged as the strawberry capital of the Philippines has emerged as first class, urban municipality and the center for education, marketing and trading for the province of Benguet.

Large-scale vegetable farming is now evident and La Trinidad is now one of the leading vegetable-producing municipalities in the country.
