THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) gave P4.6 million reward to three confidential informants during its 15th anniversary celebration on Wednesday, June 14.
PDEA, in a statement, said the informants with aliases “Jun”, “Hasmin” and “Kagawad”, were given the reward under the Operation: Private Eye – an incentive and reward scheme to encourage private citizens to report suspected illegal drug activities happening in their neighborhood to the agency.
The three wore ski masks to protect their identity when handed over the reward.
According to PDEA, “June” was responsible for supplying information to its Special Enforcement Service (PDEA-SES) and the Philippine National Police, which resulted in the seizure of 58.194 kilograms of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, and the arrest of four drug personalities during an entrapment operation in Ignacio Subdivision, Sta. Clara, Sta. Maria, Bulacan, on May 15, 2016. He was awarded P2 million.
“Hasmin” also received P2 million by providing information to PDEA-National Capital Region (PDEA-NCR) that led to the seizure of 36,584.5023 grams of shabu and the arrest of one Chinese national during the implementation of a search warrant in Hensonville, Malabañas, Angeles City, on August 5, 2016.
“Kagawad” received P620,609 for supplying information to PDEA-NCR, which led to the confiscation of 7,483.8 grams of shabu and the arrest of one Chinese national following a lawful search in Executive Villagers Society, Phase 5, Parañaque City, on July 5, 2016.
President Rodrigo Duterte was supposed to be the guest speaker in the celebration in the PDEA headquarters in Quezon City. But since he decided to have a "private time" again, meaning no official schedule, Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II represented the President.
Since Monday when he skipped the Independence Day rites in Rizal Park, Manila, Duterte has no official schedule.
According to Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella earlier, the President is in "excellent health," but he also needs a rest after visiting several military camps and wakes of slain soldiers in the ongoing war with the terrorists in Marawi City during the past weeks. (SDR/SunStar Philippines)
