Lapu City marks 54th Charter Day

THERE will be no classes and work in Lapu-Lapu City today.

The Office of the President issued Presidential Proclamation 1048, Series of 2015 declaring today a special non-working holiday for Lapu-Lapu City in celebration of its 54th Charter Day.

The declaration was signed by President Benigno Aquino III’s executive secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr. on June 9.

In a memorandum, Lapu-Lapu Mayor Paz Radaza ordered department heads and chiefs of offices to monitor the attendance of their personnel.

The activity will start with a mass, followed by a flag-raising ceremony in Lapu-Lapu City Hall grounds at 6:30 a.m.

Radaza also invited the city and barangay officials to join the commemoration of the City’s Charter Day “to show our solidarity and unity, this time for our city.”

The program proper will start at 7:30 a.m., where Lapu-Lapu Rep. Aileen Radaza is expected to attend and to deliver a message.

There will be presentations from Sto. Niño de Mactan Montessori School, Marigondon National High School dance troupe, Pajo National High School performing arts, Kalawisan Elementary School, Santa Rosa Elementary School and Pajo Elementary School dance troupe.

In a radio dyAB report, City Administrator Teodulo Ybañez said there will be a boodle fight at the City Hall grounds. The boodle fight will follow the program.
