29th GET Open, 117th US Open

WAKE up!!! It is time to continue to watch the 117th US Open Golf Tournament! But before we discuss this year’s US Open Golf, let’s talk GET 2017.

The 29th Guillermo E. Torres (GET) Open Golf Tournament is scheduled on June 18, at Apo Golf Club.

Among the hole-in-one prizes are-- a brand new Mitsubishi Adventure GLX and 1 Million Pesos cash. Other prizes include a 32-inch LED TV and brand new motorcycles.

The organizers are expecting close to 200 participants. The format is modified stableford. Shotgun start at 6 a.m. and 11 a.m. Registration fee is P2,000 per player inclusive of a mulligan. The awarding ceremony will be held at the Royal Mandaya Hotel Grand Ballroom.

That’s it. Head out to the driving range and practice that par 3 shot. You have four chances to win big prizes. Good luck participants! Back to the 2017 US Open. This year marks the 117th! Good luck to our favorites! We all have different favorites.

Just like in the NBA Finals, some were for the Cavs, and some were for the Warriors. Go Warriors! Yippee! Peace!

The 117th US Open is from June 15 to 18. This will mean that the last remaining holes of the final round will be shown on June 19 early in the morning our time—on Monday morning.

The venue for this year’s US Open is Erin Hills which is in Wisconsin. The Philippines is 13 hours ahead. So, if you plan to watch the tournament LIVE, --our current time, less one hour less 12 hours. For those of you who wake up close to lunchtime, wait for the noontime variety shows nalang. And watch the replay later in the afternoon or evening.

I like watching the tournaments live. It is more exciting. Plus, if you prefer to watch the replay, chances are, someone who watched it live earlier would post the results already on Facebook. And so the thrill is gone. Come to think of it, I am one of those who post the results right after watching. Sorry! Haha.

Don’t you just hate it—in boxing matches, Pacquiao’s previous matches, for example—there are those who pay the expensive rate to access live coverage and then post the winner on Facebook right away.

It is like there’s a contest on who gets to post the winner first. Ugh! While the general public who watch the regular match with a slight delay (because of the tons of advertisements)—they are so excited to watch the match until the end also, right? But before they reach the end, some people already post the results. Toink!

So what I do—I do not look at my phone. I do not read my text messages because someone might text me who won the match. And I do not open my Facebook app. Anyway, if it is an emergency, the person will call, not text. Problem solved!

Back to golf. Last year’s champion is Dustin Johnson. Schedule: On day 1, at 8.35 a.m. Wisconsin time, Dustin Johnson and Jordan Spieth will be playing in the same flight. Jason Day will be playing with Rory McIlroy at 2.09 p.m. Wisconsin time. Jon Rahm and Rickie Fowler will play together at 7.51 a.m. Wisconsin time.

That’s it. The 117th US Open coverage started last night. Prepare your favorite beverage and snacks for the coming days and nights. Go Jason Day! Make your country proud! Prayers to Jason Day. Prayers for the Philippines! Prayers for President Duterte. Prayers for our soldiers in battle. Prayers for Marawi.
