Cebu Pacific reports lead in Manila-Sydney route

CEBU Pacific said it captured the lion’s share for both passenger and cargo traffic between Manila and Sydney in the first quarter of 2017.

Data from the Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE) of Australia showed that Cebu Pacific carried over 43,512 passengers, representing 42 percent of the passenger market on the Manila-Sydney route, the highest among the three carriers covering this route.

The BITRE report noted that from January to March 2017, passenger traffic between Manila and Sydney totaled 104,446, up seven percent from the same period last year. Cebu Pacific carried 16 percent more passengers from the 37,640 reported in the first quarter of 2016.

It said it also flew 1,131 tons of cargo between Manila and Sydney in the first three months of 2017, about 49 percent of the total 2,325 tons transported by the three carriers. PR
