Palma urges faithful to share accounts of encounters with late prelate

TO “speed up” the beatification of Archbishop Teofilo Camomot, Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma has called for the faithful to share among their peers accounts of the late prelate’s personality and holiness.

Palma, who presided a holy mass yesterday at the Capitol Parish Church in honor of Camomot, said the Cebuanos are “blessed” to have the preparations for the latter’s beatification process being held here.

“The results of the process will all depend with the Lord, but we must keep our share of the deed. The more people will learn of his holiness, the more people will offer their prayers for his eventual canonization,” he said.

With Cebu as a “cradle of Christianity,” Palma said this will help the people open their hearts to the Lord, like Camomot did.

Palma described the late archbishop as a person of mercy and compassion, who inspired others to grow a closer relationship with God.

Prior to the mass, a symposium on the life of the late prelate was also held at the church and was attended by some members of 102 parishes in the city.
