‘High-profile’ inmate stabbed

AN inmate of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) reportedly injured five fellow inmates by stabbing them with an improvised weapon last Saturday night.

Roberto “Bobby” Legaspi, CPDRC acting warden, told reporters that the inmate who stabbed another high-profile inmate and three others has been isolated.

Legaspi refused to name the inmates involved in the incident pending the results of their investigation.

Chief Insp. Franco Rudolf Oriol, deputy commander of the Cebu Provincial Public Safety Company, is leading the investigation.

Legaspi said that at 6 p.m. last Saturday, the suspect reportedly went to the cell of the high-profile inmate, pulled out a four-inch weapon made from a nail and a pair of scissors, and stabbed the victim.

Four inmates tried to pacify the attacker and ended up being wounded themselves.

Jail guards and some inmates were able to pacify the suspect.
