DFA condemns attack near mosque in London

THE Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) joined Tuesday other countries in condemning the attack carried out near the Finsbury Park mosque in London, which killed one and injured ten people.

The Philippines also extended its condolences and sympathy with the victim, the injured and their families, the department said.

"The appalling attack stands against the shared values of the Philippines and the UK (United Kingdom) as peace-loving and tolerant societies that respect all religions," the DFA said in a statement.

The Duterte administration also reaffirmed its solidarity with the UK in the fight against terrorism and all its forms.

The DFA said the Philippine Embassy in London is monitoring the incident.

"So far there are no known Filipino victims. The Embassy stands ready to offer assistance and calls on the Filipino community to reach out with any information on kababayans possibly affected by this attack," it said.

Reports said that all the victims in the latest attack in London were Muslims. (SDR/SunStar Philippines)
