BANGUED, Abra -- The Department of Public Works and Highways is moving to address transport problem of towns across Baay River following the collapse of the Baay Bridge due to the typhoons, which hit the province last year.
Engineer Edwin Bringas, head of the Maintenance Section of the DPWH–Abra Engineering District Office, assured said the bailey panels from Bataan will be brought to Abra very soon for the construction of a bailey bridge to ease transport woes for the meantime.
Bringas said the DPWH regional and central offices already conducted the inspection of the Baay Bridge in preparation for a re-bidding of the construction project since the first bidding was a failure.
Baay Bridge is a component of the Abra-Cervantes National Road located in Barangay Bio, Lagangilang. The road is the major road network servicing the municipalities of Bucay, Sallapadan, Bucloc, Daguioman, and Tubo and up to the municipalities of Quirino and Cervantes in Ilocos Sur as well as to the Mountain Province.
Congressman Joseph Sto. Niño Bernos also bared he directed the DPWH to fast track the bidding and construction of the Baay Bridge to facilitate the smooth flow of transportation along the Abra-Cervantes Road. (PIA)
