BPO firm head eyes Clark as growth area

CLARK FREEPORT -- A top executive of the Convergys Philippines, the country's largest business process outsourcing (BPO) firm, has cited Clark as one of the growth areas for the call center industry.

Ivic Mueco, senior vice-president and country manager of Convergys Philippines, said during the launching of the firm's new site at SM City Clark that "this is something that the Kapampangans should be proud of."

"Before we even acquired Stream [in 2013] as Convergys, we were really looking at Clark as a possible area for growth," Mueco said.

The BPO industry has significantly grown in Clark, according to her.

"For those of you who lived here and born here, I think there’s so much to be proud of."

The dedication and excellent service delivered by the Convergys Clark Team has resulted to a tremendous growth, said Mueco.

"The 40 percent increase to 700 employees over the past year is significant and we are excited to continue growing. As we launch our new site, we also take pride in our Clark team strengthening their service to the community," Mueco said.

She added that the company expects to end 2015 with 1,000 employees and creating more job opportunities for talented individuals.

Mueco at the same time lauded the Convergys Clark Team for adopting at least two public primary schools of Nabuclod and Camachile in Floridablanca, Pampanga as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility.

Each student in the said schools received a bag with school supplies, said Mueco.

In May 2015, Convergys introduced the Give a Bag of Hope campaign to all its 34 sites in the Philippines.

"Each employee giving a bag of hope is doing just that, providing hope to a child and enabling them to continue learning and aspire for better future. We are grateful to our Convergys Clark team for what they have achieved not just for the company but also for making a difference in Pampanga," Mueco said.

After a month, Convergys Clark employees distributed 675 bags to Aeta elementary schoolchildren.

Convergys Corporation Chief Operating Officer Marge Connelly said that the expansion is manifestation of the company’s commitment to investing in the people and the community.

"It is an honor to join our Philippines team and celebrate the growth of our Clark site," Connelly said.

Convergys Philippines, which has 60,000 employees, continues to be a critical part of the corporation’s global operations and service destination for clients, according to her.
